VE Day at Manorhey
In May at Manorhey we celebrated the 76th anniversary of VE Day. We started our day off by decorating our home with flags and balloons which was followed by a VE Day special concert and then we finished our celebrations with a good old afternoon tea with a selection of sandwiches, cream cakes and sweet and savoury pastries.

Cupcake Day 2021
There’s nothing like tea and cake to bring people together. Knights Court proudly hosted Cupcake Day on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 for Alzheimer’s Society raising vital funds totalling £150 in the process to support people affected by dementia.
The weather was absolutely beautiful and the turnout exceptional. We had a delicious selection of cupcakes, cake & scrumptious chocolate chip muffins and tea and coffee to wash down all those delectable treats!

Trips Out
Our residents at The Westbourne have been making the most of the good weather enjoying trips out. Including drives in the beautiful countryside.
One Resident went to Costa and enjoyed a cappuccino and a slice of carrot cake.
Another lady enjoyed a trip to the shops to help choose decorations and supplies for our party, it was good to be out.

Royal Ascot At The Westbourne
Here at The Westbourne we celebrated Royal Ascot, firstly we all picked a horse for the 2:30pm race. All our lovely ladies wore hats that were kindly loaned to us by Lorraine at Tempting Hat Hire in Smallwood. We watched the race and cheered the horses on in style with prosecco and cupcakes. A good time was had by all.

Travel Around The UK - Northern Ireland
Our last stop on our armchair travel around the UK was Northern Ireland. We visited both the Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle in County Antrim, and the many places in Belfast including the Ulster Museum, the Botanical Gardens and Belfast Castle. We also enjoyed listening to some traditional Irish folk music, chatting about places that we'd visited in Ireland whilst enjoying our Tayto and Guinness flavoured crisps and learning how to pronounce beautiful Irish names such as Conchobhar and Caoimhe.

Trips out!
We at Knights Court Care Home realise the importance for our residents to make visits out of the home and appreciate that it is an important part of care home life. We were so happy for our Knights Court residents to be accompanied by their relatives to the park, for outdoor socially distancing lunch, cream tea afternoons, feeding the cows at the Hare Krishna Temple or just basking in the sun in their loved ones back gardens.
Stunning Scenery
Although living in Cornwall you get used to the stunning scenery, just once in a while the view makes you stop. On a day when the sky is as blue as the sea in the distance and a view like this from the gardens of Windmill Court you have to take a minute to appreciate what is on our doorstep.
Entertainment at Brunel
At our recent residents committee meeting there was a request for more picnics in the garden now that the weather is warmer. The next alfresco meal happened very quickly and it was Fish and Chips all round, a huge success.
We have a number of home entertainers who visit and they are always a highlight of the social calendar at Brunel bringing the whole home together. Colin really enjoyed the most recent entertainer.
Outdoor Concert
We recently enjoyed an outdoor concert courtesy of Wiltshire Rural Music. They are a charity who bring live music to communities within Wiltshire and they kindly offered to perform in the garden. It was a fantastic afternoon of live entertainment and they were so talented, we can wait for them to return.
Red Rose Day
Red Rose Day was celebrated at Ashmead recently. In addition to the beautifully made and presented "rose" cakes for all residents to enjoy in afternoon tea, all residents were given an individual rose each to symbolise care from all the staff team.
