Dignity Day at Bowerfield House

Bowerfield House enjoyed taking part in Dignity Day, we had staff and residents write on a wooden heart and display it on the dignity tree. Also our dignity box was a hit, the aim of the dignity box is to write down what you would like to achieve in 2022 and we will open the box in 2023 to see if we have reached what you wanted to achieve.

Chinese New Year at Allingham House

As a multicultural environment, where people from all around the world, work together giving the best of themselves, to deliver the best of the care. We like to learn a bit more about the people that make that possible, joining to the celebrations of important festivals from other countries and cultures.

This time we joined a quarter of the world's population to celebrate Chinese New Year. We welcomed the year of the tiger with many different activities, where the residents enjoyed a Whole Chinese Immersion Experience.

Bowerfield House's Time Capsule

Bowerfield House enjoyed doing a time capsule, we put in Covid tests PCR and lateral flow tests, a photo of everyone who lives and works at Bowerfield House, and a news paper, we picked 2.2.2022 as this date is a palindrome date , meaning it can be read the same way backwards and forwards.

Sweet Boxes

Thank you very much to Patricia and her lovely family for sending us some lovely boxes of sweeties which brightened our day here at the home. We did, of course, share these with Pat as we know she has a sweet tooth like us.

Manager Adam and Deputy Tina opened them on behalf of the staff here at White Rose Lodge.  Thank you so much for thinking of us.

New Years Resolutions

New Year new resolutions, both residents and WRL have decided to keep more active in this new year, WRL has created new daily exercise classes which are being trailed and will be a permanent feature from the next month’s activities regime, we do our best to keep our residents motivated and moving, New MIND / BODY and SOUL approach to activities will be a fantastic new highlight of the day.

Sleepout In York

Our wonderful activities coordinator Jane braved a night in the cold to raise much needed funds for a homeless youth charity in North Yorkshire.  Jane said, “The home is warm and safe, and I am reminded in this cold January that many people find themselves without their own home and are far from safe and warm. On the 22nd of January I am doing a sleepout in York to raise funds for charities that aim to help those who need a home.”  A fantastic result as the group raised £4,000 for the Charities that offer support to homeless youth in North Yorkshire.

Burns Night at The Moors

Whisky tasting, sea shanty and singing for burns night here at The Moors.  We had a lovely day leading up to the Burns Day supper with haggis, neeps and tatties prepared by our fabulous Chef’s at the home and enjoyed cups of tea and Shortbread biscuits during the day.
