Pancake Celebrations
The traditional annual Pancake Race at Brunel House, enjoyed by everyone!
St David’s Day
To celebrate St David’s Day we spent a very busy morning making Welsh Cakes/Cacennau Gri.
Whilst we mixed and rolled the cake mix, we enjoyed listening to some of our favourite Welsh artists; Tom Jones, Bryn Terfel and The 3 Welsh Tenors.
And yes, they were delicious.
Ophelia’s Vist
Some of the people living with us here at Brunel recently enjoyed a fun day in the company of 10 year old Ophelia, the daughter of one of our team members.
They played board games, musical games, did some arts and crafts and even had time for a spot of gardening.
Ophelia had a fantastic day and is very much looking forward to returning – we look forward to seeing her again soon.

National Pizza Day
To celebrate National Pizza Day we made Pizzas for our evening meal from scratch. We made our pizza dough before lunch allowing it time to rest, we had talked about toppings with our residents ands whilst the pizza was resting we prepared our toppings and pizza sauce. When our Pizza base was ready to use we assembled our four pizzas and they were sent to the kitchen to bake. Our residents enjoyed it with their evening meal and have already asked when we can do it again.
Carnival Of Brazil at Hope Green
At Hope Green we care about connecting with cultural experiences for fun, positivity, and friendship. We find that there is an acceptance and joy in the diverse cultures of our world and it was a great pleasure to celebrate this festival together with colourful displays, food, music, and creativity.
Coffee and Music Morning
Bowerfield House had a great last month, we had a coffee and music morning - latte and coffee on the go- cake, crisps and some marshmallow biscuits which all went down a treat.
We all enjoyed a music quiz and sang along to the music on the karaoke machine. We also had a go on some of the instruments, it was a fun morning with lots of laughter which is a great sound to hear.
Bowerfield House also made some dinner plate mats for LGBT awareness month and the residents loved the colourful rainbow, we also made our own rainbow bunting.
Puppet on a Striiiiiiiiing
It's smiles all around with our Oomph sessions, and we're always trying to introduce new and fun ways to keep the sessions fresh and exciting - our new prop this week came in the form of ribbons on a stick!
Everybody bobbed away to different songs, including Puppet on a String by Sandie Shaw - even if joining in wasn't for you, everybody in the room was humoured and it was smiles all around.

St David's Day at The Hawthorns
Earlier in the week we celebrated St David's Day. We made Daffodils using green straws and yellow tissues. We talked about holidays to Wales and our favourite places to visit there. We had a giggle at attempting to say the very long name in Welsh. And finally we enjoyed some songs from the Welsh Male Voice Choir. Bread of Heaven was a winner!!
Donation to Ukraine
We have started to donate to Ukraine, both the staff and the residents wanted to participate in this donation. The residents wanted to donate because they saw the newspaper article from the local Norwich, West Earlham Polish Community, and also on the TV. Some of the staff members at our Hawthorns Care Home are Polish so donating to Ukraine means a lot to them.
