The Hawthorns

Our residents really enjoyed the opportunity to help out a student of Journalism this week. She came to interview staff and residents at The Hawthorns to find out about their experiences in a care home through the pandemic. She is making a video for her course and we will get to watch the finished product.

Belmont Reflections Wheel

National Reflections Day is 23rd March this year and charities like Marie Curie are among many who will be supporting the millions of people who are grieving, and remembering the family, friends, neighbours and colleagues lost to the virus over the last two years. Here at Belmont House we wanted to make our own tribute to Reflections Day and created the Belmont Reflections wheel.

St Patrick's Day

Bowerfield House had a fantastic day celebrating St Patricks Day. We started our day with a gentle Irish sit down exercise class then enjoyed a lovely lunch, our chef made Irish Stew with dumplings. For pudding we all enjoyed home made St Patricks cake and also a trifle with green jelly and green sprinkles which went down a treat. Some of us enjoyed a little tipple, our gentlemen had Guinness and ladies had a Baileys. In the afternoon we enjoyed listening to some Irish country music while we ate and drank.

Celebrations continued with a tea party for our evening meal.

St. Patricks Day

lá Fhéile Pádraig sona in Irish or Happy St. Patrick's Day in English !!

St. Patrick's Day is without question, one of the most popular days of the year for our residents, they have a very close relationship with the Emerald Isle for many different reasons. The residents enjoyed during the week creating beautiful decorations that have been displayed all around the home.

Also, some of our residents showed their baking skills, baking the traditional Irish Soda Bread in different shapes that later on was served with tea and coffee for everyone to enjoy.
