Tickled Pink Event at Willowdene

The staff and residents of Willowdene Care Home of Lizards Lane, Sedgefield were tickled pink on Friday 18th October after holding their annual fundraising event to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  They had a lovely day dressing up in pink to support the charity and raised £95 through donations from the staff to go to the charity. Angela Penman, Activities Coordinator said “Our staff and residents love to have a bit of fun at the home and it gives the residents of Willowdene a real sense of giving something back whilst raising money for a worthy cause”.

 

Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Buckingham House

We hosted a very special event at Buckingham House  on “Wear it Pink Day.  Breast Cancer Now is a charity that is close of the hearts of many of the staff and families at Buckingham House.  The team threw themselves into the day dressing in pink and there were plenty of cakes and goodies available throughout the day.

All proceeds will be donated to “Wear it Pink”

 

Best Dessert at Chef of the Year Competition

Dianne Simpson`s lemon Torte was voted best dessert in MMCG`s first Chef of the Year Competition. The event was held at the professional kitchens at Unilever in Leatherhead and hosted by My Purchasing Partner on the 3rd October.

Dianne said "I was extremely nervous but loved every minute and was really pleased & proud to have won Best Dessert for Batley Hall."

Residents and staff at Batley Hall added their congratulations and are thrilled that Dianne has got the recognition she deserves. Well done Dianne. 

Brave the Shave

On a bright Monday morning in September, Activities Coordinator Christine Brown from Howgate House Care Home ‘Braved the Shave’ for Macmillan.

Christine roped in her colleague and friend Pam Greaves who is a Senior Carer to do the deed.

Christine has been an employee of Howgate House for 28 years and Braved the Shave as some of the residents cheered and looked on.

Distinction in Adult Social Care Worker Level 2

Congratulations to Elizabeth Smith from Willowdene Care Home on receiving her Distinction certificate after receiving a Distinction in Adult Care Worker apprenticeship level 2. 

Macmillan Brave the Shave

On Monday 2nd September at Howgate House in Idle our fabulous Activities Coordinator Christine braced herself for Macmillan brave the shave. 

Christine has had her head shaved for this wonderful charity. Bradford Royal Infirmary's Royal radio covered the event along with interviews with Christine and friends. The figure so far raised is over £860. Christine said "This is brilliant as I thought I would maybe raise £300 - £500."

The journey begins to becoming fully qualified Nurses

Congratulations to all 6 of our amazing employees, who this week have started at Bolton University on their exciting journey to becoming Fully Qualified Nurses.

All 6 members of staff have worked their way up the career ladder and are now qualified Care Practitioners or Service Support (Advanced) Practitioners. They are now taking the next step and we are so proud of them all.
