Activities at Riverview
Keeping busy is second nature at Riverview. The activities program is varied to ensure there is something for everyone. One day it's a more energetic activity led by Veronica one of our longer standing members of staff who has been at Riverview for 17 years, other days we tune into our crafty nature. The laughter and fun we had in printing these tablecloths continued all morning and resulted in perfect art pieces.
Supporting The Community
At Riverview the amazing local community continues to support us all. Just when you're thinking that you could do with a snack and a cup of tea these fabulous gifts arrive at the front door. They went down a treat so thank you to the thoughtful person/people who sent this lovely gift. We also want to support our community and so we have begun to distribute gift bags which include biscuits, tea and coffee and puzzle books to local people who may be spending more time at home than they normally would.
The BIG 786Miles for ARUK
The Big Challenge was completed with miles left to spare at Kents Hill Care Home last week.
The residents, staff, relatives and local community all came together to reach the target of 786miles for Alzheimer's Research.
A huge well done to all for your hard work.
Fresh Berries
Today we enjoyed some fresh berries and talked about fond memories of picking berries when they were younger. They talked about sneakily eating berries when they were meant to collect a whole basket full, and what they made with the berries once they were picked. One resident laughed out loud recalling a memory of a friend falling into a blackberry bush when trying to pick them. It was amazing to see and hear these stories of love and happiness. The residents were then offered a berry word search which some were very keen to try.
Enjoying The Garden
As the recent Spring weather has been so sunny and mild the people who live and work at Brunel House have been making the most of the beautiful sheltered gardens. Louisa, one of our lovely hostess team took a stroll with Roy and John.
Quarry Hill
At Brunel House we are continuing to our trips to the local area, keeping to Covid restrictions. Our last trip was to Quarry Hill. It was a beautiful clear spring day and the views of the famous Box tunnel were stunning. We are extremely lucky to have this on our doorstep.

Scrabble Day
We celebrated Scrabble Day last Tuesday. Alfred Mosher Butts, inventor of Scrabble was born on 13th April, so what better excuse to remember him and this iconic board game than to hold a Scrabble competition. The residents really enjoyed playing Scrabble while they were having a cup of tea.
