Chinese New Year Celebrations At Parkview

Parkview House had a day dedicated to Chinese New Year celebrations. There was music, entertainment and opportunities for residents to explore the history of Chinese New Year of the Ox, Nicolas Kee Mew, Home Manager of Parkview House, said : "Our residents are always interested in learning more about my culture. I thought that there was no better way to learn than holding Chinese New Year celebrations right in the heart of Chingford. Residents enjoyed discovering their Chinese horoscope and practising Tai Chi."

Getting ready For Spring

The first of our daffodils almost completed and ready to make a daffodil field.

Valentine's Celebration's

The day of love we enjoyed a love filled day with music from none other than Elvis Presley and one of our regular entertainers Sam Jones via a YouTube stream. Reminiscing some of our favourite love ballads, not forgetting a treat of our Valentine's cupcakes.

Ash Wednesday

Today at Bowerfield House we recognised Ash Wednesday, the first day of lent. As we were unable to attend Mass in person we watched in live online instead. Thank you to a local Church that kindly allowed us to have some ashes from their service today so that our residents could do their own ash cross on their foreheads themselves.

Alice In Wonderland Afternoon Tea

Today at Manorhey we have thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon tea gathering with a spread of mini sandwiches, cakes and pastries and tea in china ware. Residents enjoyed the Alice In Wonderland theme.

Chinese Food Tasting

To celebrate Chinese New Year, the year of the ox, residents gathered together for a Chinese food tasting. They tried different curries, including sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and noodle dishes. They also sampled our home made spring rolls which were said to be absolutely splendid. Not forgetting a little insight to our futures with a fortune cookie.

Pizza Making

The residents enjoyed making pizzas today but they enjoyed eating them more!
