We had a great St George's Day here at Clarendon, residents inside and outside the garden were reminiscing with music and songs. We had some great vocals with the mic from some of our residents.  

Wyndham Hall laid down the gauntlet to our sister home Abingdon Court to grow the tallest sunflower. Planting started in earnest this week with the staff team joining forces with the people who live at Wyndham. Wish us luck and may the best sunflower win. 

Congratulations to Bowerfield Court, joint winner of the best activity category in MMCG's Cheshire's region Easter competition. The team received a biscuit and a chocolate hamper to be enjoyed by staff and residents. Care Home manager Kirsty, and Activities Coordinator Sarah Jo said our residents and staff had a lovely day and we will enjoy the goodies. 

We love a good knees up here at Abingdon Court, so it was no surprise that we had to arrange a party to celebrate St Georges Day! Throughout the week, we enjoyed themed quizzes to remind ourselves why we celebrate St Georges day, learning new facts and being reminded of old ones.

Buckingham House welcomed back the hairdresser with cheers and lots of smiles as she has been incredibly missed throughout the COVID-19 restrictions. Sometimes its the little things in life that can make a big difference and she definitely is a cut above the rest! The smile on the residents faces when they saw the results were worth their weight in gold. 

Walking down the corridor in the afternoon, it's no surprise to stumble across the "ITV Quizzing Hour", with the echoing of the voices of the likes of Bradley Walsh and Ben Shepard coming from people's rooms as they prove popular with lots of people who live here at Abingdon Court. Knowing this, we thought we would travel back to the 80s and relive a classic TV game show; Play Your Cards Right.

We were given a run for our money recently as we all placed our bets on our favourite horses on the Grand National. We clutched our betting strips, praying for a Gold Strike on the winning horse - leaving the unlucky losers red as rum. 

The more competitive of the group could be mistaken for Men o' War in desperation for that lucky prize. Prizes consisted of chocolates or a (Sea) biscuit, as bets today were on the house and just for fun. That's enough horsing around for one day...

St George's Day was celebrated with pride at Buckingham House. A day to celebrate the country's heritage. 

At Bowerfield House we have 2 winners who won the St George's Day quiz, Jeff and Ellie, well done on your win! They didn't use google to cheat, but did get help from a few residents, they won a pair of socks each. We all enjoyed ourselves talking about St George's Day, and we all enjoyed our St George's Day Cake. We had a great day with lots of fun on a beautiful day, a perfect end to this weeks activities. 

We had a beautiful morning, with games all around the residents really enjoyed waking up to music and games, it sets off a great vibe for the rest of the day watching everyone hitting the balloon to one another really has benefited them and us.
