Cupcake Day 2021
There’s nothing like tea and cake to bring people together. Knights Court proudly hosted Cupcake Day on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 for Alzheimer’s Society raising vital funds totalling £150 in the process to support people affected by dementia.
The weather was absolutely beautiful and the turnout exceptional. We had a delicious selection of cupcakes, cake & scrumptious chocolate chip muffins and tea and coffee to wash down all those delectable treats!
Garden Crafts
Our garden theme continues at Hope Green and although the weather has gone much cooler outside we're still able to enjoy garden conversations and crafts together indoors whilst watching the birds visit our bird feeders by the window. It was great to get together and discuss our favourite gardens, complete crafts of birds and appreciate the stories of others. We used petals and buttons in our crafting too which was a great success and got our fingers moving and brains engaged in creativity.

Trips Out
Our residents at The Westbourne have been making the most of the good weather enjoying trips out. Including drives in the beautiful countryside.
One Resident went to Costa and enjoyed a cappuccino and a slice of carrot cake.
Another lady enjoyed a trip to the shops to help choose decorations and supplies for our party, it was good to be out.

Royal Ascot At The Westbourne
Here at The Westbourne we celebrated Royal Ascot, firstly we all picked a horse for the 2:30pm race. All our lovely ladies wore hats that were kindly loaned to us by Lorraine at Tempting Hat Hire in Smallwood. We watched the race and cheered the horses on in style with prosecco and cupcakes. A good time was had by all.
Floor Dominoes
Sylvia is brilliant at puzzles and jigsaws, today she beat the activity staff at a game of floor dominoes three times in a row.
Flowers
Hope Green celebrated June together with a gathering of flowers from the garden and good conversations with the gardeners who did a fantastic job. It was wonderful to walk together, pick flowers, identify as many of them as we could, and decorate our dining room tables with lovely posies. What a great way of spending time together. We showed so much creativity and will definitely be doing this again soon.

Travel Around The UK - Northern Ireland
Our last stop on our armchair travel around the UK was Northern Ireland. We visited both the Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle in County Antrim, and the many places in Belfast including the Ulster Museum, the Botanical Gardens and Belfast Castle. We also enjoyed listening to some traditional Irish folk music, chatting about places that we'd visited in Ireland whilst enjoying our Tayto and Guinness flavoured crisps and learning how to pronounce beautiful Irish names such as Conchobhar and Caoimhe.
Green Bowling
It was a beautiful day today. We took Owen and Roy to watch the green bowling which is very close to our home. They both thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
Games and Activities
Residents had fun with the old favourites, jigsaws and painting were a hit but the one that proved the most fun was playing snakes and ladders, there were cheers when we landed on the ladders but plenty of groans when we landed on a snake. One of our residents said "I've not played that for years but it was great fun and reminded me of playing it with the kids."
Father's Day at Hope Green
Here at Hope Green our residents had a lovely Father's Day and enjoyed their own each individualised goody bag which consisted of a drink and some sweet treats.
