Birthdays at Deepdene
Birthdays are always a huge celebration, shared by the people living and working at Deepdene. Recently we celebrated with Reginald and Ahmed and the chef did us proud with the delicious homemade cakes.
Howgate Celebrates National Carers Day
To celebrate National Carers Day, resident Eve Woodhead 90 years old presented our carers with a letter from Phil Burgan, Executive Chairman, thanking each carer for the considerable hard work they do. Each carer received a monogrammed flask and an individual letter of thanks.
Howgate House celebrated with a bacon butty break, all staff had a bacon butty and a coffee.
In the afternoon we enjoyed "songs from the seventies" and discussed the fantastic football score on Tuesday.

Father's Day At Abbey View
We had smiles all around when the residents told us about their "kids" adventures!
Mindful Colouring
Faye really enjoyed spending the afternoon participating in some mindful colouring. Colouring has the ability to relax the fear centre in your brain, the amygdala. It induces the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind. This generates mindfulness and quietness which allows the brain to rest. It is particularly relaxing when listening to classical music.

Cupcake Day For The Alzheimer's Society
Who needs an excuse to have cake?
Recently we took part in making and baking to help raise some funds towards for The Alzheimer’s Society.
Having many of our residents living with dementia, it runs very close to our hearts.
We look forward to another bake sale in the summertime when we should be able to share afternoon teas and cakes with our local community.

Happy Birthday Pamela
Birthdays are always celebrated in style at Riverview with decorations, balloons and of course homemade birthday cakes from the chef and his team. We are so pleased that families are now able to visit and celebrate birthdays in person to make the day extra special.
Pamela who lives at Riverview celebrated her birthday very recently and was joined not only by her local family but also her long distance family were able to join in virtually. It’s great to hear so many voices singing Happy Birthday.

Blue and Muffin
Our lovely birds Muffin and Blue are a huge part of life at Deepdene. They love to come out of their cages and stretch their wings. They never go far and seem to enjoy socialising with the people who live and work at Deepdene.
Hydration Stations
This year June has been chosen as the month to highlight the capital importance of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing in health and social care. For that reason, we have created hydration stations where the residents can enjoy a whole range of fresh juices, fruit, sandwiches and salad.

Donated Flowers
A big thank you to Alison and Clare, Community Champions at Morrisons Skipton for the large box of flowers donated for our flower arranging class. Troutbeck will look blooming wonderful when we have our bouquets on display.
