Halloween comes to Rose Lodge

We had a lot of fun at Rose Lodge Care Home in Newton Aycliffe for Halloween with residents and staff getting dressed up, a buffet of fabulous Halloween cakes and our very own version of Time Warp.

We'd love you to see the video of us.  Give our Facebook a visit at RoseLodgeCWCH or copy the link below to view the video and enjoy the fun of Halloween in a care home.

Poppy and Pumpkin Wreaths at Croft House

People living at Croft House Care Home have had a busy month making poppy and pumpkin wreaths. They look fantastic and are displayed around the home.

Raising Money for Royal British Legion

We started this with some of our residents at Croft House as just a creative session for the family visits to raise a bit of money for the Royal British Legion. It has taken off so well and we are close to raising £70 so far and still got orders coming, we all feel so proud.

Remembrance Poppies at Oaklands

Here at Oakland's, we have also been busy finishing our Autumn wreaths and making poppies from felt to display for Remembrance Day. The residents have also been colouring in poppies for this display.  Some of the wreaths are already up on the wall of the dining room and being admired by all whilst eating their meals.

Memory Boxes at Oaklands

This month at Oakland's we have continued with our memory boxes. Each resident has a memory box with their photo on and they can fill the box with different things that make them happy, from their memories. This may be pictures of their favourite sweets, books or comics. Coloured in pictures of their favourite toys or places to visit when they were young.

Hollywood Glamour Comes To Minster Grange

Minster Grange enjoyed a Hollywood-themed party this week. Every partygoer was transformed into a movie star of their choice and enjoyed the red-carpet treatment with a glass (or two) of “bubbly”.

Autumn Art at Oaklands

The Autumn season started on Tuesday 22nd September. The residents at Oaklands decided this would be a good day to dedicate to starting our Autumn projects. We decided to do some Autumnal pictures to hang on the walls around the home. We searched the internet for some autumn pictures and then printed them, cut them out and glued them to black card. The residents then designed their own pictures by adding fake autumn and glittery leaves.

Baking at Oaklands

Over the past few months, at Oaklands, we have concentrated on baking sweet treats but this week our residents decided that they would like to bake something savoury. Various recipes were considered and they all agreed on baking some sausage rolls. We decided what sort of pastry we should use and then what type of sausage meat to use.
