Astor Court Remembers

We had such good fun creating our Remembrance display at Astor Court today ready for 11th November.  We started off creating he large banner with the fallen solider and the poppies.  The residents enjoyed getting messy with the paint and we are sure you will agree our picture turned out wonderful.

Penny for Guy

Heeley Bank started Bonfire Week with a BANG! Making our very own "Penny 4 Guy".  We had such fun building our Guy and took it around the home so that everyone could see the Heeley Bank Guy.

Halloween Fun

We had a lovely Halloween at Ashfield Court.  We decorated the home and Chef made some spooky cup cakes for us to enjoy.  From us all at Ashfield Court we would like to wish you a very happy Halloween.

Autumn at The Moors

This month at The Moors we’ve been enjoying the crisp autumn weather and trying to get out as much as we can before the winter frost sets in. The residents have been sharing interesting thoughts about the changing seasons with Evelyn pointing out the trees that are changing colour and Margaret said that the grass felt springy underneath her feet.

Happy Birthday's at The Moors

We’ve had lots of big birthdays at The Moors this month! We enjoyed lots of cake and balloons with good music and good company. Shirley, Sheila and Maureen celebrated their birthdays with lots of cards and presents from family, friends and staff, while Bill and John both celebrated their 99th birthdays with big parties full of laughter.

Oak Tree at Acorn

Acorn House have made an oak tree, with the residents. It all started with a cardboard tube, paper, card and papier-mâché and the imagination of Charlotte, Activities and Gavan our maintenance, whose skill in designing and making our tree was excellent as you can see by the photo's. It is an evolving tree and first evolved into an Oak tree which the residents enjoyed making leaves for and painting them autumn colours. It is now become our spooky Halloween tree, where again the residents have enjoyed making decorations for it and helping to decorate.

Baking at Allingham

The residents from each floor at Allingham House got involved in a national baking competition organized by McVities Biscuits Company. The residents baked biscuits from scratch and whilst they biscuits were in the oven, we organized a coffee morning where the residents were reminiscing about the kind of cakes and biscuits that they used to bake. The most popular were fruit cakes. Once the biscuits were ready the residents decorated them with different kinds of edible sparkles, which they really enjoyed.

Halloween at Allingham

We had very busy week getting everything ready to celebrate Halloween, at Allingham House. Our residents enjoyed carving pumpkins and doing flower arrangements to decorate them. We started celebrating Halloween with Trick or Treat in the morning and carried on with a fancy dress competition where the staff wore their spookiest outfits. All our residents enjoyed and Afternoon Halloween Tea with the kitchen provided sandwiches and fresh scones and our admin staff baked delicious, spooky cupcakes that were served with teas, coffees and fizzy drinks.

Craft Day at Croft House

Craft day this October for our lovely residents at Croft House Care Home and we made these beauties, they look amazing in the dark.

Happy Halloween

October arrived and with it the build up to Halloween with a variety of light hearted and enjoyable activities. The residents took part in decorating Halloween bunting with a variety of mediums including pens, pencils, tissue paper, oil pastels and chalk pastels. We produced pumpkin artwork whilst decorating a variety of sized and shaped pumpkins with humorous faces which the residents enjoyed and much laughter was shared due to the comical expressions that were made.
