Supporting Ukraine

The people living with us and the staff at Ashmead have been most affected by the recent news from Ukraine and have all wished to play a part to help the refugees. After a brief discussion on the matter, it has been decided to create a donation box appeal in an effect to assist the affected people of all ages from Ukraine. The donation box is presently located in the reception area so that visitors also can make their donations if they wish.

Milkshake time at Ashmead

A most enjoyable afternoon for all residents was spent at Ashmead on Wednesday 15th March 2022, when members of our local NHS dietary team paid a visit. The team brought along ingredients to enable the residents to construct and taste wonderful milkshakes. The milkshakes made were Bailey’s Frappuccino, Fruit Milkshake, Dairy Free Fruit Burst Milkshake and Mango and Yoghurt Milkshake. Appropriate music and light costumes helped make this afternoon not only an adventure but also educational as the team explained the nutritional benefits from such milkshakes.

Painting at Cedar Court

Our popular arts and craft group enjoyed their painting activity and produced some extremely wonderful art. Using acrylic paint, we created a sea scene which all the people living at the home were so proud of they couldn't wait to display them in their bedrooms.

Joanna Lumley writes back...

During a one-to-one activity, Arthur told us he really admires Joanna Lumley and asked if we could help him write a letter to Joanna. So of course, we did! Arthur was absolutely thrilled when he received a reply within days from Joanna together with a lovely photo of her.

Random Acts of Kindness Day

'Random Acts of Kindness Day', no matter how big or small the gesture, all expressions of kindness were and are welcomed in our home.  Kindness increases the love hormone, energy, happiness, pleasure and serotonin. Our Wellbeing team set up a beautiful kindness board to help with the sprinkling of kindness everywhere.

Our thanks to Stourport High School & VIth Form College on valentines day.

We were certainly feeling the love with these absolutely beautiful cards sent by The Stourport High School & VIth Form College.  Our Wellbeing team hand delivered these wonderful messages of kindness, warmth and love throughout our home.  The loveometer was rocketing off the scale!.

Anniversary Card

We love to listen to the people who live with us at Kents Hill so when David told us he wanted to surprise his wife Lynne on their 26th wedding anniversary with a card he has made himself, our Lifestyle Team couldn't wait to help him.  They supported David to make the card which looked fantastic and then posted it to his wife to surprise her.

Church Service at Cedar Court

In preparation for the return of the church services Michael used his connections in the local community.  He spoke with his contact Alan from the "Men In Sheds",  Alan was a former Cedar Court volunteer and NAPA volunteer of the year, who to part in a group "Men in Sheds" .  They discussed the possibility of them making us two crosses to form part of our service.  They were more than happy to help and kindly made and donated to us two oak crosses which will take pride of place at the return of the church services here in Cedar Court.

Tree of Knowledge

We have been working over the last few weeks on our Tree of Knowledge.  During recent activities we have discussed and spoke to the residents asking them to offer any words of wisdom.  We also approached the community including the HM Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey who sent over his family moto.  The words were then attached to the decorated apples that the arts and crafts participants have been making throughout Cedar Court and these will be hung from

World Book Day

It was world book day and the team at Buckingham House couldn’t wait to celebrate with their Mad Hatters Tea Party.  Their dining room transformed into a wonderland with their table decorations, cake stands and dress up options.  The cakes and cookies looked amazing and everyone couldn’t wait to give them a try along with the prosecco or tea and coffee being served.  The staff all came together to look after the people living at the home and spent the afternoon engaging in music that was playing and the conversations being had.  Such a lovely afternoon…
