Gardening Club

The people living at the home have their own gardening club which they very much enjoy.  They have been creating some beautiful arrangements for everyone at the home to enjoy.

Surprise on our walk this week

We have a walking club at the home and we quite often venture out over the common for a little walk.  This week on our walk we had a lovely surprise as we were greeted with some animals and a choir that we sat and listened to. Such a lovely extra treat for the group.

Plant a tree for the Jubliee

The Queen has asked people from all organisations to plant a tree in her honour for the Jubilee and the people at Buckingham House Care Home were really excited to get involved.
The Mayor came to the home to do the official planting and spoke with the people living with us.  To celebrate the event we had such a beautiful day that we could get our BBQ out.  There were also themed cakes and desserts for all to enjoy.  The entertainment was fantastic and got everyone out dancing.  We had such a wonderful day.

Mini Mobile Zoo Visit

We had the lovely mini mobile zoo call and see at the home which was so exciting. The afternoon was a hit with everyone and as it was glorious day, we sat outside to see the animals that has been brought along.   We got to see and hold a bearded dragon, a rabbit, a corn snake and a skunk.  It was such a great event and we are looking forward to having them visit us again soon.

Jubilee Preparations

We are in full swing with our preparation for the Queens upcoming Jubilee.  There is much excitement amongst the people living with us.  We are currently working on a big display using flowers painted by the people at the home.  Looking forward to showing you all the final display.

International Nurses Day

We celebrated International Nurses Day in our lounge with people living with us and staff. Our fantastic nurses each got a certificate, bottle of wine and other gifts. Our amazing kitchen team created some Blue and White cup cakes, which tasted lovely.  Huge thank you to everyone who made the day so special.

International Nurses Day

The nurses at Kingsbury Court were surprised with a small party today to celebrate them and to say a huge thank you for all they do. It was so lovely to have been able to keep the secret from them until the day itself and treat them as they all do such a fantastic job for us.

Supporting Independence at Gateford Hill

Supporting peoples independence is something that we like to achieve at our home and it is different from person to person but no matter what the task, they all come with their own sense of accomplishment.
We have one person living with us at the moment who wanted to be apart of the team and help us where she can.  We were only too delighted to have her help, and now she even has her own uniform that she loves.

International Nurses Day

We wanted to do something special to celebrate the amazing nurses that we have at Buckingham House care home.  We all met outside for some refreshments and the home manager gave each of our nurses a gift to thank them for all the incredible work that they do.

International Nurses Day

In honour of Florence Nightingale, we had a small gathering and celebration for our nurses at Cedar Court this afternoon. As a Registered General Nurse and also being our Regional Director, we also had our special guest, Petra join us for the same.  Our nurses provide such great care for the people who live with us it was nice to have an opportunity to show them we they are valued. Thank to everyone who made this say special.
