World Heritage Day
Last week, we honoured World Heritage Day in our Art Club 🎨
Choosing Stonehenge as our inspiration, we used paints and cut outs to build our own Stonehenge landscapes!
Work began on Stonehenge about 5,000 years ago, but it was built in stages over many years. The stone circle dates from about 2500 BC, in the late Neolithic period
Did you know, every year, the people who maintain Stonehenge have to move the stones a few inches to the north? This realignment is necessary to ensure that the sun rises in line with the stones at least once a year.

Abingdon Court's Coronation decorations
The King's coronation is a momentous occasion that calls for the utmost attention to detail when it comes to decoration and preparation. This event marks the beginning of a new era in the kingdom, and it is important to create an atmosphere that is both regal and celebratory 🎉👑
Rich shades of gold, burgundy, and royal blue are all popular choices for royal events, and can be used in everything from the drapes and tablecloths to the floral arrangements and centrepieces - we are even creating nail art inspired by the occasion!

Abingdon Court's poem for the King
The power of poetry truly knows no bounds... 📝
As we gear up for the Kings Coronation this weekend, we were inspired to put pen to paper and write some poetry! 💬
We have found that poetry can be used as a tool for social engagement and community building. Poetry and reading groups can provide a shared experience for those living here, fostering a sense of connection and belonging 🙏🏻

Abingdon Court's Dementia Cafe
We would like to invite you to our very first Dementia Café!
On Wednesday 17th May, as part of our Dementia Action Week events, we will be opening our doors to the community, so you can join us for refreshments, conversation, and some activities - our qualified and insured holistic therapist will also be offering a range complimentary therapies!

Gardening at Abingdon
With the sun peeking its head round the curtain, we thought it would be appropriate to get some sunflowers on the go! 🌻🌼🌞
We are not short of gardening experts here at Abingdon Court, so together we were able to get 5 variants of sunflower on the go, ready to be re-potted later in the year!
Keep your eyes peeled to see how they get on 👀
Gardening Club at the Woodland
We started a gardening club on 24th April, our gardener Paul was very excited about this.
The people living with us planted over 40 sunflower seeds, we hope they all germinate so we can plant them in our lovely garden.
Peter Piper at the Woodland
The people living with us had a wonderful afternoon full of live music.
Peter Piper sang songs in our lounge then he went to visit more people in their rooms. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and they are looking forward to him performing again.
Easter weekend at Woodlands
Here at Woodland Care Home, we had a lovely four days of Easter Celebrations.
We had an Easter fayre, bunnies came to see the people living with us, a Church visit, and live entertainment enjoyed with teas and cakes.
Family and friends came to visit over the Easter weekend, and they even took part in some of the activities.
Easter celebrations at Woodland Care Home
On the last day of our Easter Celebrations we enjoyed live music with family and friends.
Everyone enjoyed refreshments, hot cross buns and Easter cupcakes. The people living with us had a good old dance and sing song.
