Our stories

We celebrated Remembrance Day sharing memories and singing songs with our residents here at Troutbeck. We had afternoon tea with scones jam fresh cream and strawberries. 

We really got into the spirt of Halloween at Riverview, even Godzilla got an invite this year.

One of our most recent trips out was to the Kemble Aerodrome.  The airfield is being used to store retired aircraft including Boeing 747s and large passenger planes.  Its astounding to see so many huge aircraft all lined up together.

The staff at Brunel have done an amazing job in donating and purchasing essential items for a great charity called Supporting the homeless in the south west.

We traditionally respected the two minute silence on 11-11-20 at 11 o'clock watching with interest the TV broadcast. We followed this after lunch with a typical black and white WW2 film. A very moving day, but important to us all. 

Residents and staff at Windmill Care Centre paused their daily activities and joined together in 2 minutes of silence to remember and honour everyone who has served and lost their lives in conflict.

The residents have continued to add to their pebble snake which they began in September and is currently on display outside the front of their home. They were very proud to add their poppy ones to it to help commemorate Remembrance Day.

Proud to support 'Breast Cancer Now' by wearing pink, a sea of pink in our home, worn by the residents and team.

The weekly armchair cruise is a very popular activity for the residents as many of our residents are so well travelled.

Catherine lives at Abingdon Court and is such a friendly and helpful lady.

Gillian is such a happy and delightful lady. Until recently she enjoyed a regular manicure and having her nails looking bright and colourful.

We have lots of Halloween fun at Parksprings, with lots of events and dress up. Staff held a Halloween Ball, with food, drink, games and pumpkin carving. It was a great day for everyone. 

Exciting constructions are happening at Parksprings! We have a new log cabin in the grounds 'Rosie's Den'. Your can see it is nearing completion and we are all looking forward to using the cabin, particularly if Government guidelines allow us to use it for visits. 

Here we are getting ready for our Alexandra Court Halloween celebrations. Dorothy made our mummy light up jars, to display round the home. Residents did amazing job carving the pumpkins and Owen really got into his master piece.

We held an afternoon tea at Thorntree Mews, for our residents and had a lovely afternoon going through our letters and cards from "Postcards of Kindness". Since we joined at the beginning of lockdown we have received lots of letters and cards from all over.

Here at Manorhey, we had a Autumnal day. We decorated and dressed the tables in autumn colours and we made our own lamb stew with crusty cobs and cabbage. After lunch we enjoyed spiced pumpkins coffees to warm us all up for the cold outside. 



 

This month at The Moors we have been doing a lot of baking! We have been making apple and berry tarts, birthday buns and even a Christmas cake, just to name a few! The residents have enjoyed weighing and measuring, rolling and cutting but most of all, eating their fabulous creations.

We had an alterative Bonfire Night celebration, here at Minster Grange, with a lovely night-sky themed Son et Lumiere.
