Julie our activities lady has made this fabulous cake as a roast dinner. It's amazing with the detail of the vegetables, roast potatoes and the chicken more than the wow factor. Troutbeck residents loved pouring chocolate gravy over the cake that was in a cake gravy pot, can you believe it!

We had a surprise delivery today from the Nantwich and District Soroptimist society of some Christmas cards that were numbered 1 to 24, (two lots, one for the weaver suite and one for the bluebell suite) for our residents to open each day as an advent calendar, with a message and questions inside

It was wonderful to see the men at The Westbourne so enthusiastic about the fitting of a new kitchen. Conversation about DIY successes over the years and a few disasters too whilst watching the kitchen being fitted and recognising many of the tools in the tool box!

It is very important for us at Abingdon Court to keep our residents happy and fulfil all their wishes. So the activity team, Kirsty and Mona made a Wishing Tree. The residents make a wish, write it onto a leaf and hang it on the tree.

Christmas has arrived at Water Royd. We have Covid friendly decorations up in the home, but we still wanted the residents to enjoy a Christmas tree. We thought long and hard about this and decided to utilise our fabulous outdoor space.

We are delighted with our new visitor booth at Ashfield Court. Relatives can now visit the home and stay warm in the winter months with our indoor visiting booth which has a private entrance. We can’t wait to welcome you to the home.

Troutbeck Care Home is constructing a specially designed visitor pod to enable safe and comfortable visits for both residents and families. This will be an addition to our existing virtual and window visits that are already in place.

The people living at Willow Bank made banners and poppies to decorate the home for Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. Everyone were very moved when watching the remembrance service and those that could stood for the two minute silence.

Everyone at Bowerfield House wishes a very Happy Birthday to Vera - the lady with the warmest of smiles. This month Vera wore her pyjamas for Children in Need and pink for Breast Cancer Now. She also loved wearing her 1950s outfit for our party. Happy 87th Birthday Vera!

As our residents are unable to make it to the shops we brought the shops to them! Our residents were able to choose their toiletries, snacks and magazines all complimentary of the home.

Bowerfield House partied like it was the 1950s! All the ladies thoroughly enjoyed dressing up in their skirts and headscarves, with everyone enjoying the music and buffet. We all definitely rocked around the clock!

Residents at The Westbourne celebrated their theme for November with A Tour Of Ireland which included watching riverdance performers, singing and even some dancing by the staff.

This week at Carmel Lodge our residents have been engaging in a variety of different 'fall prevention' activities and exercises. Mary enjoyed decorating her frame with a pink floral theme as Mary had worked very closely with the local church and used to be head of flower arranging.

Our wonderful Donna McDermot, CP at Bowerfield Court, is cutting her hair to raise money for The Christie and residents at both Bowerfield Court and Bowerfield House. She will be sending her hair to a charity that makes wigs for those going through chemotherapy.

Residents have been getting crafty Christmas style, making some beautiful Christmas cards for loved ones. The amount of creativity we see is just wonderful, great fun and of course getting us in the moos for the festivities that are to come.

We had a lovely evening hosting a pub themed evening for our residents, by turning our bistro into 'The Wharf Inn'. Beers, wine, G&T's or a tipple of choice with a pub food for dinner followed by games of dominoes and cards.

During comfort month we held a relaxing social event, where staff and residents wore their pyjamas, played relaxing music and enjoyed facials and hand massages with scented aromas and creams, complete with a refreshing glass of wine.

One of the recent craft activities at Brunel was making sensory bags full of beads, shaving foam, glitter, cotton wool balls and food colouring. The residents really enjoyed getting messy with this one.

Unfortunately due to the current conditions, like many people, the residents were not able to go to a fire work display this year and so the activity team brought the fireworks display to them.

During Halloween week the activities coordinators provided the residents with various Halloween inspired activities, such as pumpkin decorating, and even a Halloween themed bingo, which the residents really enjoyed it.

For International Men's Day today we very much recognised and celebrated the men of our home. They thoroughly enjoyed pints of beer, pork pies coupled with branston pickle and games of scrabble.

Bowerfield Court recently took part in a pyjama day in aid of Children in Need! Staff and residents wore their pyjamas for the day and raised money. We wish we could wear pyjamas every day!
