Our stories

We had fun this afternoon playing balloon volley ball, such a simple game but its great for hand eye coordination, and is always a good team building exercise that both residents and staff can enjoy together.

There was some lovely work produced in our mindful colouring session. Residents listened to relaxing mindful music whilst producing their pieces. These sessions aim to improve focus and concentration and reduce stress. We finished off our session with a herbal tea.

Residents celebrated National Nutella Day when residents took part in Baking Club as they prepared a chocolate cheesecake which our residents enjoyed with an afternoon cup of tea.

Residents enjoyed their exercise sessions last week using their pom poms. The swimming and shopping themed exercise were liked by the majority of the residents, we then finished of the day with a couple of games of dominoes. 

For big garden birdwatch our residents enjoyed arts and craft where we painted a bird house, coloured pictures of birds in and had a selection of bird like activity’s at hand. We listened to some relaxing music during the activity allowing our residents to listen to bird noises and tweets.

Thank you very much to Patricia and her lovely family for sending us some lovely boxes of sweeties which brightened our day here at the home. We did, of course, share these with Pat as we know she has a sweet tooth like us.

We enjoyed a lovely crafting session making Chinese Lanterns to celebrate the year of the Tiger.  We hung the lanterns up in our rooms and around the dining room where we enjoyed a Chinese banquet for dinner.

Whisky tasting, sea shanty and singing for burns night here at The Moors.  We had a lovely day leading up to the Burns Day supper with haggis, neeps and tatties prepared by our fabulous Chef’s at the home and enjoyed cups of tea and Shortbread biscuits during the day.

We enjoyed a movie afternoon in the Dementia unit in January.

The residents really enjoyed the Chinese New Year celebrations. They made sparklers and lanterns and enjoyed some Chinese food. We talked about the different animals of the Chinese zodiac calendar.

Bowerfield House enjoyed celebrating National Carrot Day yesterday, one of our favourite desserts!

We enjoyed a fabulous Burn Supper at the home to celebrate all things Rabbie Burns. We had a delicious meal of haggis, neeps and tatties with a dram of whisky to celebrate. Here is our table, all set for Burns Supper.

We had two 70th birthdays celebrations in January at Yohden for our Alan and Ann both celebrate their 70th birthday.  We had a birthday party for them and they really enjoyed their special day.

We celebrated Burns Night at Rose Lodge with the traditional Haggis, neeps and tatties. We enjoyed some Scottish songs during the day, along with Scottish Shortbread and tales of We had a lovely morning joining in the Burns celebrations and our Haggis, neeps and tatties were enjoyed by all.

We enjoyed our Burns night at the home and at the end of the night the piper performed in the garden for us. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the show. We decorated the home in Scottish flags and enjoyed Irn Bru and Scottish Shortbread biscuits.

We celebrated Edith celebrating her 85th birthday at the home in January.  Her morning started with opening her presents whilst having Happy Birthday sung to her.  Our Chef, baked her a cake to enjoy with a cuppa  and her friends at the home all enjoyed a little tea party as she bl
