Our stories

A lovely sunny day for our pancake race, staff were feeling competitive and raring to go. With residents joining in too for a walking race and spectating, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. We care about having fun and taking the opportunity to laugh with friends.

We celebrated Valentines day at the home and our residents had a lovely time. First we designed our table mats which we printed off and laminated ready to set the tables, we then made valentines day cards for all of our residents which Doreen and I delivered in the morning.

This week in arts and craft the residents continued to produce some great work.  Using a template of a ballerina (to form a silhouette) and blending coloured paint onto canvass they created some wonderful painting which they were extremely proud of.  Attached are

The pancake has a very long history and featured in cookery books as far back as 1439 and in that time that has been very different varieties and styles.  At Kents Hill we had some of those varieties and also lots of different toppings to go on top too.

Residents and staff have joined this week to the celebrations of LGTB+ History Month. We started the week, playing a Quiz, exploring and learning a little bit more about important members of the community that have a close relationship with Manchester like Alan Turin.

We enjoyed a visit from Falconry UK recently, which enabled us to get really close to some of these amazing birds, as well as seeing some really rare species.

River View has decided to plan holidays this year on our virtual cruise ship.

Every week the SS River View will stop at a new port, and this week our first stop was the Caribbean. We decorated our home and staff

dressed in brightly coloured holiday dresses.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our local Tesco store who called to the home to deliver some fruit to the people living at the home.  They were really happy to be thought of and get the gift, so huge thank you again from Anu and the team and Kents Hill.

The weather is wet and windy outside but we had a great morning with our pamper session. To start with all of the residents picked a pulse point they wanted to use which was there's to keep after we had foot spas with peppermint ! Then we talked about positive wellbeing and relaxation.

It's smiles all round when we have freshly baked brownies to compliment our afternoon tea.

Christine was deep in concentration when working on her contribution to the animal collage.

Our residents enjoyed bingo last week and finished the afternoon off with a couple of games of charades.

We had an afternoon of Valentine's crafts, we painted small terracotta pots and decorated them. The residents who joined in really enjoyed the activity, they said it was very therapeutic and looked lovely on the dinning room tables.

At Hope Green we care about the lives our residents have lived before we meet them and we enjoy spending time exploring memories that are important to them.

Love is sharing the simple things in life, helping one another with the smallest of tasks can often be the greatest of gestures. Cecil and Myra shared a lovely valentines day lunch. I loved listening to them reminisce about their roller skating days together.

We had a lovely morning making apple and cinnamon scones. Joan mixed all the ingredients together whilst Jane made the oat crunch to go on top. Once everything was ready we sent them to our kitchen to bake. We enjoyed this with a lovely cup of tea for our afternoon tea.

Bowerfield House had a fur friend called Nigel visit. Our lovely Admin was kind enough to bring in her dog to visit us here at Bowerfield House. All the residents loved Nigel and we had lots of smiles and laughter, it brightened our day.
