Moving into a care home made easy

Our care team are here to make sure that making the move is as easy as possible for you and your loved one. If you still need reassurance, here are some stories from our residents, their families and our care team.

This afternoon at Manorhey our residents enjoyed one of their favourite performers who entertained them with a variety of rock and roll classics via a virtual concert. The residents had a brilliant time dancing the afternoon away with residential friends and staff members.

Poppy did some beautiful flower arranging with the residents this afternoon. They helped put together a new tub of flowers for our conservatory. They certainly brighten up the room and are lovely to look at.

We had a lovely Valentine's Day here at The Moors, with residents drawing hearts, making cards and having a lovely lunch with the tables decorated beautifully. Our favourite activity was passing round the balloon and whoever caught it shouted out something they loved.

Shrove Tuesday was a huge laugh here at The Moors! We ate delicious pancakes for lunch and the brilliant chefs even made us some extras to have a bit of fun with! We had pancake 'races', competitions for the highest flip and the best catch just to name a few - even the staff got involved!

What a beautiful morning in Manorhey garden, looking for our furry friends the squirrels for their daily morning visit. Spring is almost definitely on its way.

The day of love we enjoyed a love filled day with music from none other than Elvis Presley and one of our regular entertainers Sam Jones via a YouTube stream. Reminiscing some of our favourite love ballads, not forgetting a treat of our Valentine's cupcakes.

Today at Manorhey we have thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon tea gathering with a spread of mini sandwiches, cakes and pastries and tea in china ware. Residents enjoyed the Alice In Wonderland theme.

We have really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year. We decorated the home and created some beautiful lanterns which we hung around. We had plenty of snacks to try and had fun with arts and crafts and word puzzles.

We celebrated Chinese New Year with homemade Chinese food and we listened to oriental music and discussed our Chinese zodiac animal. We discussed that the Chinese New Year is in February to celebrate the New Moon.

We celebrated Valentine's Day with chocolates! All the residents received some chocolates and we all talked about what love meant to us from a warm fuzzy feeling inside to being warmed and cared for!

We all decided we love our families and miss them very much.

Bowerfield House would like to say a heartfelt 'Thank You' to Down To Earth, a florist in High Lane. Our residents and staff absolutely loved the beautiful roses that were sent to us on Valentine's Day. Thank you for thinking of us and brightening our day.

Love From The Community

Both residents helped with our Valentines Celebrations, we decorated some vases and re-arranged our table decorations with some new red roses.

Today, 12th February, we celebrated 'Chinese New Year'. The dining room was decorated with lanterns and bunting and residents were treated to a fab Chinese meal, getting our taste buds going it was a huge success, smiles all round...and clean plates!

This is a picture of our monthly donation from Margaret Bradie community champion at Asda Falkirk. Margaret has been making monthly donations to the home for over 7 months now. Every month is different. This month we have asked for sketch pads and pencils for our new art class.

Today we have thoroughly enjoyed our daily walk and fresh air in our garden this morning, the weather was pleasant enough to enjoy a chit chat on the bench. What a lovely morning, such a great feeling to be out!

The theme for February is 'Peace and Love' as we celebrate the hippy era. A fun atmosphere, as staff join in celebrating peace and love! Enjoyed by all our residents!

We have expanded our regular treat trolley to include more exotic fruits. Residents have a variety of options so they are in control of what the choose dependant on how they feel on the day and may be tempted to try something new.

The activities team kick started 2021 with the return of the virtual armchair cruise. An amazing all in one activity. Our most recent travel was to Greece where the activities team went that extra mile and dressed the part to provide the residents with the ultimate experience.

Inspired by Sir Captain Tom Moore, memory boards have been lovingly made by residents and staff at Wyndham Hall, God Bless and Good Night Captain Tom.

We had a visit from a young boy and his mum who are local to Clarendon Court, he asked his mum if he could write to us and send some biscuits for them to give them a big smile on their faces. It is a lovely gesture and certainly brought lots of smiles.

The residents enjoyed taking part in The Big Garden Birdwatch. We placed feeders on residents windows and we made fat balls to hang on the trees. They enjoyed it so much that we did it again later on in the week. We have definitely attracted more wildlife to the garden already.

The last week the residents joined to the celebration of The National Storytelling Week.

The Westbourne is celebrating with theme of 'Love' this February and began with hippy fancy dress, colourful decorations and a morning of our favourite songs from The Beatles. 'All You Need Is Love' was a definite favourite song to get everyone up and dancing!

A very popular activity here at Clarendon is a good quiz, 'who wants to be a millionaire' is favourite, and we have a good team with great knowledge, this week we worked our way up to the million pound question...and got it wrong, better luck next time.

The Belvedere Newsletter

We know how important it is to keep in touch in these challenging times and thanks to the technology this is possible. The residents have enjoyed a video call with the children from the nursery next door and from the IBS.

Allingham's Activities

We have been discussing the history of Chocolate and our own local brands. Lots of lovely Bournville chocolate was available which was Lillian's favourite.

Burns Night was celebrated at Cavendish Court with poetry, whisky and clootie pudding. A wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.

We had a lovely afternoon at Cavendish Court recreating The Price is Right. Residents were invited to come on down and guess the price. The residents had a great discussion around the rise in prices and the cost of living nowadays.

It is world dignity day on February 1st. Our residents at Cavendish Court enjoyed spending time discussing what dignity meant to them. We then displayed these so all staff can be reminded of what is important to each resident. The little things matter!

Its been a busy new year at Bowerfield House. We planted our bulbs ready to enjoy the blooming flowers later on in the year. We enjoyed Burns Night and the most amazing Scottish meals - haggis, neeps and tatties - cooked by our chef Matt.

The residents of The Belvedere have each received this lovely donation from Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care. They have enjoyed snuggling into their fluffy scarves. Thank you!

Friday 8th January ... Elvis Birthday! We have some big fans within our home so we couldn't miss the Kings birthday. We dressed up, sang and danced to all of his songs and enjoyed some classic American snacks.
