Wallace View Nursing Home Visits Hampden Park

A historic day in Scottish football.

This week we had the joy of taking some of our lovely residents to Hampden Park ahead of the men’s and women’s cup finals this weekend. As we stood pitch side under the sunshine, we discussed legendary matches, iconic players, and the managers who shaped Scottish football history. Hampden, Scotland’s national stadium, has been the heart of the game since 1903. Once the largest stadium in the world, it holds the European record for attendance—149,415 fans watched Scotland face England in 1937. We even lifted our own trophy (albeit cardboard!) where countless champions have celebrated. Hampden has hosted over 89 Scottish Cup finals and is home to the Scottish Football Museum and Hall of Fame. We wrapped up our visit with a delicious lunch and drinks at Club Hampden—a well-deserved treat in a truly historic setting.
