Hope Green visit Macclesfield FC
A lifelong Macclesfield FC fan had the chance to see her beloved club play again – and met the player her care home sponsored for the season.
Longstanding supporter Denise Gill was overjoyed to see her team play again when a group from Hope Green Care Home in Adlington, Macclesfield, was invited to watch a game at the club’s home ground.
Accompanied by two members of the care team, Denise was joined by David Wynne, who also lives at Hope Green, another devoted lover of the beautiful game.
The club’s invitation to the game against Spennymoor Town on April 18 came after Hope Green Care Home sponsored Macclesfield player Josh Kay for the season. Josh visited the home earlier in the season and followed up with a special video inviting them to come along and watch a game. He made time to meet the group from Hope Green after the match – making their experience even more special – and has signed his shirt to send to the care home too.
Care Home manager Ryan Bajas said: “Denise and David had a great time at Macclesfield FC; the experience was wonderful from start to finish. The sponsored player Josh Kay did an amazing job, he was fast on his feet, and they loved cheering him on.
“At Hope Green, we’re passionate about creating meaningful experiences and maintaining connections to the things people love, so supporting our local football club Macclesfield is something that means so much to many of those living and working at here – especially longtime supporters like Denise.
“It was also wonderful for David to be part of the day. While he’s a Liverpool fan, his love for football made him a perfect choice. To have a nice cold beer in one hand and a hotdog in the other whilst watching the game was something he’d really missed. Macclesfield didn't win unfortunately, but our spirits were still high, and we were grateful to Josh who generously met us after the match as well”
Bob Trafford, Sponsorships Director at Macclesfield FC, said: “Sponsorship is a fantastic way for local businesses and organisations in our community to get behind the club, and we’re so grateful to Hope Green Care Home for doing just that. We were delighted to welcome our visitors, and they clearly loved the experience.”
