Ashmead Care Home Breaks Ground on Major Refurbishment Project.
Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG) is investing in a major refurbishment to enhance the facilities, lifestyle, and accessibility at Ashmead Care Home in Putney. The care home, which specialises in the provision of nursing and dementia care, began major works on July 14th, completely transforming all three floors, the reception area, and outdoor landscaping. The home will remain open throughout, with the refurbishment expected to end mid-December. The project is designed to transform living spaces, enhance facilities, and create a welcoming environment for those living in the home, families, and staff. it will see significant upgrades including the creation of a bespoke reception area with a café/bistro and seating area, a new lifestyle suite, refurbished hair salon and a new wellness suite. Alongside this, there will be the addition of a new private nursing unit and a luxury private dementia unit – which includes 30 bedrooms combined with modern bathrooms and a lounge. Work will also cover upgrading the hallways, incorporating different colour themes to support orientation, and renovating the dining rooms, lounges, and the terrace – from flooring and handrails through to LED lighting and signposting artwork, again to make it easy to move through the building. Outdoor spaces will also benefit from hard and soft landscaping, including a resurfaced car park, wildflower areas, and improved seating. Luminita Cupsa, Home Manager, said: “This refurbishment is such an exciting chapter for Ashmead. Every room has been thoughtfully designed with comfort, accessibility, and well-being in mind. We’re creating a beautiful and modern space that truly feels like home, where those living with us can enjoy their independence, connect with others, and make the most of every day. “I can’t wait to see the smiles when everyone experiences the full transformation for themselves.” Ashmead Care Home provides nursing, residential, and dementia care, with a dedicated team delivering person-centred support in a warm, inclusive environment. This refurbishment is part of MMCG’s wider investment in upgrading and modernising homes across the UK. Added Luminita: “The new reception with its café will be a wonderful hub, and the updated lounges, dining areas, and gardens will provide beautiful, calm spaces to enjoy every day. “By dividing the home into colour themes and using colour-contrasting handrails and bathroom elements, we hope that moving through the building will be even easier than before, ensuring the independence of those staying with us.” Further updates will be shared as work progresses, ahead of a special community open day towards the end of this year.
