Big Garden Birdwatch

In preparation for last weekend’s RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, we have been busy creating our own birds in readiness .

Like thousands of people across the UK, we spent some time counting the different species of birds that we see in our garden, including our very own colourful feathered varieties .

A selection of wine and cheese from around the world - what more could you want.!

Over 25 of the people living with us joined the party and gave their critiques. It was a most enjoyable time and all of us are very much looking forward to the next soiree.

New Furniture at River View

The excitement is buzzing as all the new furniture and fittings are arriving. With the curtains and bedding complimenting the feature walls this brings a whole new feeling of freshness to the unit. The smell of new wood and carpet with the brightness all through. We can't wait to see the finish result. Keep watching this space.

National Pie Day at The Hawthorns

To celebrate National Pie Day the residents enjoyed a delicious homemade apple pie for dessert.

Pamper Day at Water Royd

Today our hairdresser has been and our lovely residents have enjoyed a pamper in the hair salon. They were all really happy and relaxed during their pamper.

Amber Court's Gardening Club

We started the year by launching our Gardening Club here in Amber Court, it was participated by our residents and staff. Joan and Jimmy planted tomatoes, lettuce, mint herbs and spring onions. We are all looking forward to harvest these vegetables soon. This is a weekly activity that we get to plant our own vegetables and flowers. It was fun and good for everyone, especially to our residents that likely improve their wellbeing. Great job everyone!

Bingo at The Hawthorns

Last Friday we played Bingo, our residents loved this activity. Some of them needed a little bit of help, when one of the residents won , they could not wait to play another game. As a result of this we have decided to have Bingo once a week!

Shoe Designs

We had a special trip down memory lane with a residents interesting history in shoe design. She showed us all her fantastic art work and recalled so many stories from sketching in Milan to working in a local factory. She was so proud of her achievements and we were honoured to hear them.

Burns Night

What a way to celebrate Burns Night. One of our lovely members of staff provided traditional Scottish day and night wear for men. Including a sporran, a sgian dubh, shoes and an amazing kilt. The residents loved exploring them. We listened to Bagpipes and we enjoyed some Highland dancing. Mainly giggling at the staff giving it a go!!
