Castle Visits

We are still getting out and about in the mini bus as much as possible to take advantage of the crisp winter days.  Our recent visit to Nunney Castle and Farleigh Hungerford Castle was a beautiful day.

Farleigh Castle is a medieval castle built in two phases, the inner court was constructed between 1377 and 1383 by Sir Thomas Hungerford, who made his fortune as steward to John of Gaunt.

Roast Dinner Cake

Julie our activities lady has made this fabulous cake as a roast dinner. It's amazing with the detail of the vegetables, roast potatoes and the chicken more than the wow factor. Troutbeck residents loved pouring chocolate gravy over the cake that was in a cake gravy pot, can you believe it! Bake off doesn't even get close to this brilliant cake - well done Julie.

Advent Calendar Gift

We had a surprise delivery today from the Nantwich and District Soroptimist society of some Christmas cards that were numbered 1 to 24, (two lots, one for the weaver suite and one for the bluebell suite) for our residents to open each day as an advent calendar, with a message and questions inside. We thought this was a lovely idea and we're looking forward to each days reveal to Christmas.

DIY Memories

It was wonderful to see the men at The Westbourne so enthusiastic about the fitting of a new kitchen. Conversation about DIY successes over the years and a few disasters too whilst watching the kitchen being fitted and recognising many of the tools in the tool box! Watching men at work was a definite success!

Bonfire Night

We celebrated Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night with fireworks at River View.

Alan Moore poem goes as the traditional rhyme " Remember,  Remember, the fifth of November The Gunpowder treason and plot. Should ever be forget."

The River View staff dressed in Neon to give more colour throughout the day.

Warming Winter Drinks

Winter brings the festive season and the activities team have a jam-packed winter and seasonal activities calendar coming their way.

To begin with, the treats trolley had variety of different hot chocolate flavours on offer and as the residents are huge chocolate lovers, they really enjoyed it.
