Trained and qualified as Nurse in the EU/EEA?

The UK left the European Union (EU) on 31 January 2020, and has since issued guidance to all nurses trained in the EU, EEA or EFTA countries to register with the NMC and complete their application. For further information on the requirements to register via this route, please visit the following link:

Trained and qualified as a Nurse outside the EU/EEA?

Together with their nursing qualification, we kindly request all our international applicants for nursing positions to have fulfilled the following requirements on application:

1. Commencement of UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) application: If you would like to work in the UK as a nurse, you will need to register with the UK NMC. You can do so and verify the documents required at the following link to obtain your individual Candidate ID

If instead you are already registered with the UK NMC and have a valid NMC PIN, please confirm your individual NMC PIN on application.

2. Valid English language evidence: Appropriate English proficiency is crucial for all nurses to provide effective communication and care.

The UK NMC offers ample guidance on the types of English language evidence accepted, with the most common being Academic IELTS or Occupational English Test results. For more information, please visit the following link

3. Completion of NMC Computer Based Test (CBT): Together with OSCE, CBT forms part of the Test of Competence issued by the UK NMC for all international nurses who have qualified outside the UK. CBT must be completed as part of your NMC application and can be carried out in your country of residence at a registered Test centre.

4. Invitation to sit your Test of Competence - Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE): Invitation to sit OSCE is issued by the NMC once your Eligibility and Qualification checks have been successfully completed. OSCE is offered through a small number of authorised universities in the UK and must be completed in person.
