Pride Month

🌈Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ+ voices, celebration of their culture and rights and here at Abingdon Court we wanted to show our support! 🫶

Those that live here spent time creating colourful art to represent diversity and authenticity. This also included rainbows. The Rainbow symbol is not only beautiful but each colour on the flag has its own meaning. In the widely known six-colour flag, red is symbolic of life, orange is symbolic of healing, yellow is sunshine, green is nature, blue represents harmony and purple is spirit. 🌈

Sue Learner, editor of care home review site carehome.co.uk explained: “There are over 1.5 million LGBTQ+ people in Britain over the age of 55 and we need to break the taboos that stop them from celebrating their true selves" and here at Abingdon Court we couldn't agree more.

There are lots of charities that help support the LGBTQ+ community. A few organisations you can contribute to are: Stonewall, Galop, MindOut, Topaz, Out together, Reengage who run rainbow calls for the over 75 and so many more.

Thank you to Ribberty Rabbit Crafting for your great vision. 🎨
