An industry leading Care Home in the top 4% across England.
Kings Court Care Home in Swindon has been rated Outstanding overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), placing it among just 4% of care homes in England to achieve the regulator’s highest possible rating.
The home, which provides nursing and dementia care, is part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG). It was upgraded from Good to Outstanding overall, with Outstanding ratings in the Caring and Well-led inspection categories, following its latest Care Quality Commission inspection.
Those living at Kings Court described feeling safe, well-supported and part of a warm community. One person told inspectors: “I love it here.” Another commented: “(Staff) are very careful to treat people with dignity… they make sure I am happy with things and are always polite.”
Relatives also spoke highly of the care, with one describing the home as “like a family”, adding that staff “go above and beyond”. Inspectors highlighted “a strong proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and complete honesty.” A member of staff told inspectors that information is “shared clearly” and “feedback from staff, families and residents is listened to.”
Kings Court's personalised approach was evident throughout the inspectors’ report, which noted people were supported “to manage their health and wellbeing to maximise their independence, choice and control,” while “staff supported people to live healthier lives.”
One relative explained how these approaches had made a tangible difference to their loved one: “When (person) came here, he was not communicating; now he is chatting away to anybody.” Another described how staff helped their mother, who was receiving end of life care, to fulfil a personal wish to spend time outside: “A supersized chair/bed was organised, and Mum was so happy… we spent precious time together in her happy place – outdoors.”
Care provision and healthcare outcomes were consistently strong. One relative said their loved one “was previously on end-of-life care, but it didn’t happen because it’s so good here.” Another described how staff maintained stable health conditions: “They could not have been better at monitoring her sugar levels…”
Staff support and wellbeing were another key strength. One team member said, “I’ll never forget how considerate (the manager) was during a difficult time in my life… offering understanding and encouragement when I needed it most.”
Orsolya Szasz, Home Manager at Kings Court, said:
“We are incredibly proud to have achieved an Outstanding rating. This recognition reflects the compassion and professionalism of our whole team, who work tirelessly to provide truly individualised care for those who live with us.
“The feedback from the inspection means so much to us, and we remain committed to delivering a safe, supportive and enriching environment every single day.”
