Golden ticket to the palace

You may have seen Buckingham Palace before, but have you ever been inside? Sidney, from Bridge House, was invited to a garden party at the palace to celebrate his golden anniversary which coincided with the Queen and Prince Philip’s anniversary. Their day out was so special that the Watford Observer wrote a story on it!

Guardsman husband

Regional team member Yvette’s husband is in the Welsh Guards, who’s served in the regiment for almost 20 years. In that time, he has participated in many Trooping the Colour parades. At the centenary birthday of the Welsh Guards, they both met Prince Charles, with whom Yvette shares a birthday, and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Royal wedding host

Robert Bingham, who works with us at Carmel Lodge care home, shared an interesting fact with us... he worked at The Goring Hotel, a 5-star luxury hotel in London which played a key part in the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The Duchess stayed at the hotel the night before the wedding, along with her family.

Shared Sisters Birthday

Elsie, who lives with us at Howgate House, was born in the same year as Her Majesty The Queen. Lots of people were born in 1926, but what makes this story extra special is that Elsie’s sister, who’s called Phyllis, was born in the same year as the Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret. What a coincidence!
