Coronavirus update (19/03/20)

Guidance regarding visitors

As a precautionary measure, and in accordance with current government guidance we find ourselves in a position where we have to severely restrict visitors to our home in order to protect the wellbeing of residents, staff and the public.

Health professionals will be visiting as usual but family members are now asked not to visit at all, unless there are particular exceptional circumstances and then only by appointment with the manager. Clinical visits and appointments to ensure the continuity of care to our residents will of course continue as usual.

Regrettably, anyone visiting the home without prior agreement will be refused admission.

We do hope that this will be for a limited time only and we will be doing our best to allow loved ones to maintain communication via Skype and social media.  We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We are committed to keeping our residents and staff as safe as possible as cases of Coronavirus develop within the UK.

This has been a difficult decision for us to take and understand that this will cause some anxiety and concern.  We do believe that this is the right thing to do in the current situation and trust that you will work with us as we seek to find the right balance between protecting our residents and maintaining important contact with loved ones.

This continues to be part of our broader plan which has included stopping visits from the community, from external entertainers and delaying non-essential maintenance works.

Please note that our homes remain open to admissions as usual to support the increasing pressure on the healthcare services.

If you have made a prior appointment as agreed with the Home Manager and are visiting one of our care services then please take the usual sensible precautions, including hand washing.  Please note that our home managers have been asked not to admit anyone displaying symptoms (increased temperature, shortness of breath or flulike symptoms) and we ask you to cooperate with them in this regard, even if an appointment has been made.

We will, of course, keep this policy under review and provide updates as appropriate.  Your understanding is very much appreciated by all our staff.

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

As individuals, the food that we eat and how we choose to spend our time is important to all of us. It’s our personality, feelings and lifestyle choices that make us who we are. That’s why we value the recreation and dining experience of our residents just as highly as their personal care needs.

Quality Catering

Good food should be savoured and celebrated. We serve home cooked meals, prepared on-site using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Our talented catering team combine creativity, passion, and a comprehensive knowledge of nutrition to deliver high quality, delicious and nutritional meals.

Residents have several choices at each meal time, with menus rotated on a weekly basis and based on their preferences and nutritional needs. Between meals, our helpful staff serve refreshments and baked treats on our tea trolley.

Special diet requirements

Our head chef works closely with our home manager and care team to ensure residents are receiving the nutrition they need and to make adaptations for individuals who need extra dietary input, such as fortifying meals for residents who are underweight.

We offer the training needed so that our catering team are able to provide nutritious and tempting meals for residents with special dietary requirements, such as high-nutrient or calorific dishes and soft foods.

Something for everyone

Just as with our dining experience, we believe in offering choice and variety in the recreational activities we provide. We base our activities and events programme on the likes, preferences and requests of residents, and continually revisit and update our programme to make sure we are offering meaningful and engaging entertainment choices.

Leisure activities include:

  • Cooking
  • Gardening
  • Live music
  • Exercise clubs
  • Arts & crafts
  • Cinema evenings
  • Food tasting experiences
  • Themed parties
  • Afternoon teas
  • Games & Tournaments
  • Reminiscence discussions
  • Outings
