On Wednesday 19th March, The Westbourne Care Home invited the local community to celebrate their 2nd Year Anniversary. The home was transformed and decorated with 1940’s themed items and the main entrance become a bunker for the day. Staff, residents and relatives dressed in 1940’s clothing which brought back quite a few memories for the residents.
In the morning residents were entertained by a local singing and dancing group, who have visited the home previously. The residents had a brilliant morning singing along and a couple of the residents even enjoyed a dance. The Chef prepared a delicious street party themed lunch, including corn beef hash with fresh homemade bread, sandwiches, fruit pies and fresh cream buns. The day did not end there, as residents & relatives took it in turns to visit the bunker, listening to music from the war and having discussions about some of the equipment they used.
During the afternoon Cockney Carol came to perform in the main lounge. Everyone had a wonderful day and looked great in their outfits – as i’m sure you will agree from the below pictures.
