Rose Lodge is a purpose built 54 bedded Care Home which provides Residential and Dementia Care. Rose Lodge was opened in December 2003 by Cherie Blair.

Nicola Wheatley has been a valued member of the Rose Lodge team for over seven years, having initially started as a part time Care Assistant before being promoted to Senior Carer and then Deputy Manager before taking over the Care Manager role.

Nicola has over 15 years experience in the Care Sector and has lived in Aycliffe for 20 years after moving to the area at the age of 13.

She said, “Rose Lodge is like a second home to me and I am looking forward to continuing to build on its excellent reputation for providing high quality care and building strong relationships with our local community.

At Rose Lodge our aim is to deliver a high standard of care and recognise and value all of our residents as individuals. My team and I have the passion and drive to maintain a warm and welcoming home for all our residents, their families and loved ones. ”

The home adopts an open door policy and Nicola invites anyone wishing to visit the home or speak with her to call in at any time.

We were pleased with many of the positive observations the CQC noted in their report, including:

• People we spoke with were complimentary about the home. They told us, “It’s lovely” and “I can’t fault it”.

• People who lived at Rose Lodge received effective care and support from well trained and well supported staff.

• We asked people who used the service and their family members what the food was like. They told us, “She loves the food”, “the food is very good”

• We asked people who used the service, family members and visitors if there were enough activities do at the home. They told us, “There’s always something going on”, “we enjoy ourselves”, “there’s lots to do” and “there are some real characters here, they have fun”.
