James Toseland officially opens Leeds head office

It was far from an ordinary work day at Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG)'s head office recently when MotoGP star James Toseland officially opened the company's new premises.

Yorkshire-born James Toseland gave a short speech before unveiling a commemorative plaque and congratulating MMCG Chairman Phil Burgan. The two-time World Superbike Champion - and talented musician - then played the piano and sang for the audience of more than 100 invited guests, including a song he wrote for his grandmother.

"I am proud to have been chosen to officially open the head office," said James. "I have known Phil for a number of years and recently performed for residents at two of his care homes in Yorkshire. I have always been impressed with the people working for MMCG and I am glad I could be a part of today's celebration."

 "Everyone who met James on Friday understands why I am proud to have him as an ambassador for our company," said Phil. "He is friendly and approachable, and treats everyone, including the elderly, with respect."

James performed for residents at MMCG's newest home, Cavendish Court in Alderley Edge, Cheshire on Friday evening. He was joined on stage by pupils from a local girls' school.
