New event highlights importance of care homes
Monday 2 June marks the start of the first annual National Care Homes Week. This is an ideal opportunity for care homes across the country to demonstrate their dedication to providing the highest levels of service. Care Services Minister Ivan Lewis will officially launch the event with a keynote speech in London.
Throughout the week, care homes will raise awareness of the sector by championing the work of dedicated staff, and highlighting the lives and activities of those in their care.
The UK's growing elderly population means that places at care homes are in high demand. However, some people make the mistake of ignoring professional advice and are often forced into making a last-minute decision. Choosing the most suitable home for an individual is a difficult, time-consuming process and requires careful consideration.
The care home industry, which is already extremely competitive, is planning for the future by acquiring new homes, offering additional staff training and improving the quality of care provided. One such company is Leeds-based Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG).
"This sector is becoming increasingly competitive, but our excellent reputation precedes us," said Maria Twarowski, Managing Director of MMCG. "In addition to opening new homes, we are committed to providing the highest levels of service. As always, we will be happy to open our doors to the public and invite people to see what we can offer."
MMCG was founded in 1996 by Phil Burgan, who named the company after his grandmother. It currently has 47 properties throughout the UK, spanning from the Channel Islands to County Durham.
