Water Royd House is in Gilroyd, near Barnsley town centre in South Yorkshire. The home is situated within walking distance of the local shops, library, doctors surgery, pharmacy and post office. It is also located on a local bus route, providing easy access to the surrounding area and a convenient way for visitors to reach the home.

Water Royd House provides nursing, dementia, day care, palliative care, residential/personal care and respite care. The bright and airy two-storey home can accommodate up to 48 nursing and residential residents whilst the dementia unit can accommodate 14 residents in single en-suite bedrooms.

Water Royd House has a welcoming reception area with a grand staircase that leads to the first floor, which has an informal seating area for socialising. The ground floor is dedicated to residential care and the first floor to nursing patients. The care home has a large number of communal areas, which encourage a social atmosphere. This includes two open-plan dining rooms and six lounge areas with modern decor and furnishings. The home also has a smokers lounge and an on-site hair salon. The secluded patio area is perfect for relaxing on sunny days.
