Welcome to Willowdene Care Home

My name is Debbie Daniels and I am the Care Manager at Willowdene Care Home.

I commenced my State Enrolled Nurse training at Sunderland General Hospital January 1984. I qualified as an SEN in 1986. I married a soldier later that year and moved to Berlin where I worked in the Military Hospital. In July 1992 my husband left the army and we moved back to the North East.

A position as an SEN became available within a 48 bed care home in Hartlepool. 2 years later, I commenced a conversion course and worked my way from SEN to Manager. The conversion course qualified me as Registered Nurse. I worked as Manager at this home and for the final 4 years as Training & HR Manager. I successfully qualified as an instructor in First Aid and Manual Handling. I achieved NEBOSH, CertEd and a Foundation in Food Hygiene.

September 2004, I left the company and became a Self Employed Trainer, travelling around the country teaching all aspects of care. I continued to keep my nursing skills up-to-date by working for a nursing agency. Whist working for the agency I covered many shifts within Willowdene Care Home. I always enjoyed working within this friendly, homely environment and was pleased when the opportunity was given for me to join the team. So this is me and where I am today.

Willowdene Care Home is situated in a beautiful rural setting on the outskirts of Sedgefield village. We are part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group and hold registration for three categories of care: residential, dementia and general nursing.

Our home's aim is to put our residents first, to elevate their quality of life with a greater understanding of their needs, and enrich not only their lives but those of their family and friends.
