Phil Burgan - Chairman, Founder & CEO
Phil Burgan is a pharmacist with over 35 years multi-site Management experience, mainly at Director Level. In 1986 Phil built up a chain of 38 pharmacies known as Medimart Limited which he then sold in 1995.
In 1996 Maria Mallaband Care Group was created and named after the grandmother of Phil Burgan. The independent company has expanded organically and through acquisition, thanks to an outstanding reputation for providing quality care homes and services. The group currently has 76 care homes throughout the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Jersey.
Phil is a supporter of many charities: The Princes Trust, Barnardo’s, St Vincent de Paul Society and in particular “Make a Dream”, a cancer charity that Phil has helped raise over half a million pounds for children with terminal cancer during the past 6 years. He frequently takes part in fund raising adventures – climbing Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and the Three Peaks recently for example.
Maria Mallaband Care Group is currently ranked 89th in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 and Phil is ranked 11th in Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs for 2010 - an achievement he is very proud of. Phil has also recently won The Most Outstanding Care Home Operator in the UK Over 50's Housing Sector 2011.
Chris Ball - Managing Director
Chris Ball is an Oxford Graduate in Chemistry.
Chris spent ten years working in corporate finance before spending seven years with a fast growth international language service business, firstly as Finance Director before taking the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Chris joined Maria Mallaband Care Group as Finance Director in October 2008 and became Managing Director in January 2010.
James Burgan - Commercial Director
James Burgan is a BA (Hons) Business Studies Graduate from Northumbria University. James first gained experience with GE Capital Finance in 2002 by helping to intrigrate their purchase of Woodchester Cir Finance into their portfolio. James joined MMCG initially as Property Manager at the beginning of 2005, his remit being to ensure all care properties were maintained to a high standard. James was made Property Director in October 2010 and has since been promoted to Commercial Director.
Vicky Craddock - Operations Director
Vicky Craddock has more than 18 years' experience in the care industry - she worked in the private sector before joining MMCG. She is a registered nurse with a business studies qualification. Her previous work with the elderly is especially useful for her role, as she is directly responsible for running the elderly care side of MMCG - and that is no easy feat, as the company has 27 elderly care homes in its portfolio.
Jenny Delic - HR Director
Jenny Delic holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Leeds Metropolitan University and is a Graduate Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She joined the HR department of MMCG in August 2005, working her way up to Head of HR in June 2010 and became HR Director in January 2011.
Peter Fagan - Finance Director
Peter Fagan joined Maria Mallaband Care Group on Monday 1st March 2010 as Finance Director from Grant Thornton where he was the manager responsible for the Group's annual audit. Peter has more than 25 years' managerial experience in the Accounting Profession, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 with Binder Hamlyn.
During his professional career, Peter has also worked with Anderson, where he had responsibility for a number of full listed and AIM companies and has been involved in providing support and advice to a wide range of owner-managed and not-for-profit organisations. Peter is married with three grown-up daughters.
Chris Womack - Business Development Director
Chris Womack is a business marketing graduate with significant commercial experience across a number of sectors including; sport, leisure and property. Chris has held a number of senior board positions over the last 10 years and prior to joining MMCG was the Commercial Director for a leisure and property development group based in Yorkshire.
