May is usually a beautiful month, a sunny start to the summer so we are looking forward to spending sunny days in the garden and outings to parks and lakes.

We welcome Charlie, our new activity co-ordinator, she is looking forward to getting to know everyone and brings her own talents, such as singing, into the home, and we can expand our range of activities on a more one- to- one basis. This means we can offer activities with an activity organiser every weekday and also Sunday.

The 1st of May or Mayday is celebrated at Styal Mill with a Maypole, many of our residents are local and we are having an afternoon tea on Sunday 8th to reminisce about our childhood Maydays and maybe they took part in a dance around the Maypole.

International Nurses day is May 12th and we will be noting this and thanking our nurses at Cavendish Court for all their hard work and commitment.

Dementia week starts Wednesday 18th, we will be concentrating some of our activities Around this disease and highlighting the care given to those who have it.

We hope to arrange a show with Music in Hospitals for our entertainment this month. They have professional singers and musicians so the standard is of the highest room is always full.

Tues 24th is pencilled in for an outing, hopefully to Redesmere lake to feed the ducks and swans and to enjoy a well deserve ice cream. However if the weather is not in our favour we can always take a flask of tea and throw the bread out of the window!

Our monthly Church Service is on Monday 16th, it is a non denominational service and everyone is welcome to participate.

Alderley Edge holds its annual Fair during May culminating on Saturday 21st in a Grand Parade through the village. Starting at 11am it has various bands and characters, and also the May Fair Queen in a horse drawn carriage. It finishes in the Park with all sorts of shows, stalls and games. There is alway a super turnout and we are two minutes away from a great vantage point, so we will also be calling on friends and relatives to make this a day to remember.

At the end of the month we look forward to another Bank holiday, Spring Bank holiday on Monday 30th, let’s hope we can celebrate with tea in the garden.
