One of the lady's at Skell Lodge turned 90 years young this week. Staff, family and friends all joined in with the celebrations this weekend , we held a buffet lunch on the day. The lady used to be an office worker and an accountant so a member of staff made a cake that replicates an old style type writer in Black and white which i think you will agree, looks fantastic!!

Everyone had a brilliant day and ate far too much!

At Skell Lodge this month we have two special birthdays that we will all be helping the ladies celebrate.

We will be having a buffet lunch tomorrow to celebrate one of our resident's turning 90 years young, and having celebrations on Saturday 26th October for one of our resident's who will be 100.

We would like to wish them both a very Happy Birthday from everyone at Skell Lodge x

We are pleased to inform you that Jill Cocking had joined our senior team as of today and will initially take over Area Manager responsibility for some of the homes in the Yorkshire and Nottingham areas.

With a busy future ahead Jill Shearer will continue in a senior capacity within our company in a new and vital role where she will focus on commissioning our new care homes.

We would like to take this opportunity of welcoming Jill Cocking to MMCG and wish both ladies every success for the future in their new roles.

Each year our homes all participate in the 'Doorstep Challenge'. All homes were given a budget of  £100 to spend however they wished, whether it be on seeds, flowers or plants to make the entrance to the homes look colourful, bright and attractive. This is a brilliant way to get everyone involved and the residents love watching the flowers and seeds flourish over the months. There will be an overall winner and three regional winners, which will be judged in the next few weeks.

As you will read, our focus this quarter has been about how our homes celebrated the Queens Jubilee this summer, amongst other pieces such as Dementia Awareness Week and details about our luxury 5 star Westbourne Villas in Holmes Chapel. These are ready to move into now and are on sale starting @ £179,500.

One of the runners who ran with the Olympic Torch in Thirsk joined us on Monday for our Luncheon Club. The Gentleman brought along the torch with him and had photos taken with the ladies.

Guy Taylor, resident at Skell Lodge gave a speech about The Friends at Skell Lodge, quite a few people would like to support his ideas and get involved in helping funding raising for the home.

We will be having our garden fete on Monday 6th August, where there will be a cake and fresh fruit and veg stall. The fruit and vegetables are all been kindly donated by the residents families from their allotments.

After lunch we will be enjoying some musical entertainment, everyone is welcome to join in for a sing-along.
