Monread Lodge residents will be supporting Dementia week with a special Coffee morning for the residents in our Knebworth Court Unit on Thursday morning. Later in the day all of our residents will enjoy an afternoon of song and dance with Henry, a local actor who comes to see us between appearances on the West end stage (he has just finished a stint in Les Miserables).
Incidentally we have had some wonderful sightings of wildlife in our grounds this week- several muntjac deer and a beautiful heron who we think is more interested in our ponds goldfish than us!

Residents and staff at The Westbourne are getting involved in the Holmes Chapel village Jubilee event. We are decorating our gazebo to look like a royal bedroom and the staff are wearing red, white and blue nightwear. There will also be competitions for all the community to take part in on Sunday 3rd June in the village. All monies raised will go to the local hospice.
We will then be following the celebrations in the village with a Jubilee tea for residents, family and staff at The Westbourne.

Residents of Windmill Court enjoyed a very interesting afternoon.
On May 3rd we had a visit from our local zoo. Everyone was able to touch and feel the large snail, eel, lizard, snake, also a very large snake and leopard skin.
The talk was very interesting and informative, with residents asking lots of questions.
The afternoon concluded with tea and biscuits.

Dementia Awareness Week will take place from Sunday 20th - Saturday 26th May, which aims to increase the understanding about dementia.
'Remember the Person' is our annual flagship awareness-raising campaign. It's our opportunity to raise awareness of dementia and to get people to 'remember the person' behind the dementia.
Five things you should know about dementia;
Dementia is not a natural part of ageing
Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain
Its not just about losing your memory
Its possible to live well with dementia
There's more to a person than the dementia.
Please contact any of our homes to find out what they have planned.
