A good time was had at the Local Point to Point Races (Horse Racing for Amateurs) on Saturday.
Glorious sunshine, crowds of people and spectacular racing.
We arrived at the course in good time to secure a good vantage point with the car on a slight slop overlooking mist of the course.
A lovely picnic, including smoked salmon rolls, wine etc, followed by a look at the horses in the pre-race paddock. Several winning horses were selected, with made all the more fun!
We then had a look around the trade stands, all had a frozen yoghurt cone, and a coffee and after watching the final race, drove back home. Our residents attending thoroughly enjoyed it, something different!
On Monday, one of our residents relatives, Sue, kindly came and played the Grand Piano with a good variety of songs to sing along to (accompanied by one of our clients on his Harmonica). At teatime, Francesco came to help as a volunteer (Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme). He is popular with all our residents.
Tuesday – Keyworth Day Centre, and indoor activities on Wednesday also. Thursday, the weather was considerable brighter, and we had a group visiting ‘The Plough’ at Hickling for the regular real ale outing – which is a firm favourite on the social agenda. Following this, lunch, with Courtyard drinks (in the glorious sunshine). Songs on the Harmonica and Sea Shanties and lots of laughter all around (including Fred the dog).
Friday, summer songs with Janet at the Piano, rehearsing a sunny medley in readiness for our summer party on June 24th 2015.
