Tuesday 8th December – Toddlers Group Xmas Carols
We had a visit from our local toddlers group – 1-4yr olds. They sat in the lounge with their parents and enchanted our residents with their singing xmas carols. Everyone said how lovely it was that they knew the words and how lovely it was to see them.
Wednesday 9th December – Holy Communion
Visit from our local vicar and short communion service for our residents. This was attended well.
Our residents went to a tea dance at our local village hall. This was arranged by a local organisation and we paid for tickets from our residents comfort fund. There was a brass band and drinks and cakes and everyone had a great time meeting residents from other homes.
Thursday 10th December – Churches Together Carol Singers
Carol singers from our local churches came and sang to our residents. All had a wonderful time.
Monday 14th December – Christmas Party Day
We started off the day with helping our residents get ready in their favourite outfits for our Party Day. Mid morning we had a get together with tea/coffee and cakes. We then had a visit from Santa who gave out presents for every resident. He went to rooms of residents who were unable to get out of bed. For the presents, our staff drew out an envelope and shopped for a present suited to the resident they had. We have a lady who is 100 yrs old…when she saw Santa she was enthralled and could not stop looking at him and asked him if he was really Santa. So lovely to see and lovely time had by all.
There was a Christmas lunch held at the village community centre for any residents who wished to attend. There was a light lunch supplied by our chef, here at Birch Heath Lodge and games for residents who did not go. After the games we had a visit from Linda Pelling who entertained our residents with lots of Christmas and old time music. Linda is lively and loved by all our residents and they enjoy getting dressed up in the many costumes and accessories she brings with her. Following this, there was a buffet. All staff came in dressed up in fancy dress. This was won by Charlotte, one of our senior carers, who was a Christmas Cracker. Such a lovely day with lots of laughs, smiles and lots of hard work from all staff to make this a special time for everyone.
Tuesday 15th December
Hand Bell ringers came in dressed in Christmas colours and hats and played and sang to our residents. Lots to sing along to.
Lots of 1-1’s in rooms with residents who are unable to come out of rooms. We took books and listening tapes to residents who had requested some and toiletries to others.
Wednesday 16th December – Bingo
Angela, one of our carers, came in a held a bingo session for our residents in the dining room. They had such a laugh. Many prizes and lots of lovely comments from residents.
We would like to thank all of our staff for all of their commitment and hard work during our Christmas celebrations
